I am a nerd. Now that it is out there in the open I am not ashamed to admit that I like musicals. They are often cheesy, drag on a bit, and don't mesh well with reality, (at least I have yet to see someone break out into song and a perfectly choreographed dance in the middle of the day, but maybe I am spending my time in all the wrong places?) but I like them nonetheless. Somehow I decided that in 2009 Mark and I were going to have musical Sundays and watch a different musical every Sunday night. So far- Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Newsies. (If you are counting I was out of town a week) Mark is anxiously waiting for Grease and I think we have to do Mama Mia this Sunday, but I think to stay true to the theme we have to do some of the classics too. Any suggestions on favorites/want to let us borrow? If you want join the nerd, feel free to tune in any Sunday night for a new favorite...
(you should look carefully at the main kid in Newsies- you might recognize him from the Dark Knight!)
I love musicals too. I really like this idea. Newsies and Sound of Music are some of my favorites. I also love Oklahoma! and Singing in the Rain. You could always check the library for movies too.
Thought we were the only ones who liked them too. Although, Jesse probably wouldn't admit that in broad daylight. Actually are thing has been Alfred Hitchcock movies. Those old black and whites? Yeah, we're loving those!
Batman is a totally cute newsie. O' and I totally love musicals. I do own King & I (love it) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (probably won't be Mark's favorite but I really like it, really it cracks me up, when there is a song that starts "Bless her beautiful hide", how can you not crack up?) I also like Meet me in St. Louis, and I am an Elvis lover so all his movies are musicals to me. :)
Maybe we should do a friend Sunday musical party. (I'm sure the guys would love that)
For some more contemporary options - and to change some things up a bit - try "The Producers", "Bride and Prejudice", "Chicago", "Moulin Rouge". i LOVE musicals so much. What a fun tradition. Your husband is a good sport!

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and the Music Man are must sees! Classic! This sounds like a fun idea. I want to implement that. Oh, My Fair Lady...
