Washington DC

A couple weeks ago now we went to Washington DC for a family vacation. Our friends Mandi and Rory were gracious enough to let us stay with them for the week and we had a blast getting to see them again and see the sites of DC

The Capitol building

The Supreme Court

Library of Congress

Washington Monument

Plus, we had so much fun just spending time together. All day, everyday. Vacations are fantastic! She enjoyed the audio tours,

riding the metro (this was her favorite thing of the whole trip!)

going to a zoo for the first time

She loved the bear

and hated the monkeys!

Blue and Mark went to their first ever MLB game- Nationals vs Dodgers

And we enjoyed some amazing spring weather-

all the flowers were in bloom!

And now what you really wanted to see- more pictures of Blueberry...

She loved playing in the water at the botanical garden kids room

And she was so chill as we went to all the museums and things- it didn't even faze her when Mark strapped her arm in too

She got used to having her picture taken so much she started to anticipate the flash

Once again, loving the train

So stinkin cute

First experiences with a water fountain

The little house they had in the kids room of the botanical gardens

FRENCH FRIES!

She took most of her naps in the stroller while we dragged her around to see the sites. We decided that stroller was worth its weight in gold by the end of the trip. She is a heavy little one!

It was a great family vacation and we love DC!

Blueberry's first cupcake

On her actual birthday we tried giving her a cupcake, needless to say she liked looking, but not eating. What a mean mom I am too- right when she calms down, what do I do? Offer it to her again! Anyway, take a look...

We are having a little party this weekend and might try again, this time though I would not rush her. We will let her take her sweet time. Even if that means that she just enjoys looking at it!

Thanks for trying Mandi! Based on who her dad is though, I think we have a pretty good chance of her liking sweets and treats before long!

First steps tonight!

That's right! She took about 4 steps... I am so glad she decided to walk when we could both see it too!

Singing praises...

Mac & cheese- it is so yummy. Why did Mom not give this to me sooner? When I take my first bite I have to do a little dance because it tastes so good. Mom gives me a little on that tiny spoon and I like that, but I cannot wait for more so I take the spoon from Mom and try to get some in my mouth faster. But it is not faster... so, I throw the spoon off to the side and dig in with both hands. Oh, it is fantastic! Warm squishy noodles in my hands and I can really shove them in my mouth fast now! I have to celebrate this speed and yumminess by rubbing the cheese all over my head- this is even better than when I spill my milk and splash in it! YAY!

it is worth it. -Ashlee

Experiment: Week 2

So I think it is all about stamina. And self-discipline. And addiction.

Stamina- My body has adjusted to not having so much couch time and having more project time.
Self-discipline- I am not referring to keeping myself from the TV, I am talking about peeling myself away from my sewing machine before 11:00 or 11:30 each night.
Addiction- I just traded (or upgraded? This might be argued.) my addiction- exchanging TV for sewing + audiobooks.

What have I done? I need a bigger fabric budget!

Oh, and more ideas for great books to listen to. Loved the Hunger Games and can't wait for book #3. Listening to The Help right now and liking it, but I don't have anything lined up next! Ah!

By request of Gigi

Taken with my camera phone and sent to my mom- she said she liked the picture of the triplets and I had to put it on the blog.

This was another day... those dolls either look lifelike or my baby looks like a doll.

Either way, they are some of her favorite friends.
