TAG

7 random things about me:
  1. I am a library's worst nightmare. I put tons of books and videos on hold, but only sometimes remember to pick them up... I eat while I read and food occasionally finds its way to the pages... I keep books past the due date and then put off paying the fines until they lock my card...and then I pay the least amount possible to get my card unlocked... If the SL county library system had a hit list I would be on it.
  2. I graduated in elementary education and now have a hard time imagining me teaching a classroom of children. I think I would be a lot meaner now than I was at 21 when I did my student teaching. Hmmm... maybe that would be better...
  3. I am easily addicted. TV shows, video games, books, candy, you name it- don't tempt me!
  4. Spring is my favorite time of year. There is something fantastic about seeing the plants and trees bud again and being able to soak in the sun after a long winter. I think the best day of the year is that first day you can cruise in the car with your sunglasses on, the window rolled down and the music as loud as you can stand it!
  5. I have had more than a handful of nightmares about forgetting to feed my baby and about my newborn talking to me. Pregnancy dreams freak me out!
  6. I usually ride the bus to work and have taken to sleeping in the morning (when I am not reading a library book.) It is a good thing I don't embarrass too easily- I have woken myself up a couple times snoring! I consider it a good thing that I have not woken up laying on my neighbor's shoulder or something!
  7. I don't believe in karma from chain letters, chain emails, "forward this for good luck", etc. so I tag everyone and threaten bad luck if you don't do it :)

2009 Muscial Sundays

I am a nerd. Now that it is out there in the open I am not ashamed to admit that I like musicals. They are often cheesy, drag on a bit, and don't mesh well with reality, (at least I have yet to see someone break out into song and a perfectly choreographed dance in the middle of the day, but maybe I am spending my time in all the wrong places?) but I like them nonetheless. Somehow I decided that in 2009 Mark and I were going to have musical Sundays and watch a different musical every Sunday night. So far- Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Newsies. (If you are counting I was out of town a week) Mark is anxiously waiting for Grease and I think we have to do Mama Mia this Sunday, but I think to stay true to the theme we have to do some of the classics too. Any suggestions on favorites/want to let us borrow? If you want join the nerd, feel free to tune in any Sunday night for a new favorite...

(you should look carefully at the main kid in Newsies- you might recognize him from the Dark Knight!)

What's in a name?

Lately I have been stressing about finding the name for this little babe. Mark doesn't seem concerned since he keeps shooting down all the names I bring to the table... I am starting to worry that she might get stuck as Blueberry for the rest of her life! Ahhh! Everyone says picking the name is the fun part, but until we have some stellar ideas I am just stressing about it! I dream of names and then when I wake up I wonder what the heck my sleeping mind was thinking!

Some people are so much braver than me..

So I have decided that there are either some brave people out there or others are just more confident in themselves than I am. Strangers have been asking me when I am due and what I am having and all kinds of other pregnancy-related questions for a while now. The first time a stranger asked me when I was due I was so taken off guard that I just kind of stared at her for a second. She then followed up the silence by adding that she figured I was pregnant anyway because I am thin everywhere else. While it was a nice compliment, I thought it was still a risky comment- I mean, what if I just have a disproportionate fat roll? What if I had a strange growth? What if my outfit was just that unflattering? I was very tempted to respond that it was a tumor that the doctor was trying to figure out how to remove. That would have been a good reaction to watch... but it didn't mess with her after all.

I wonder how many people have mistakenly asked a non-pregnant woman about her expectant state...yikes.

Merry Christmas!

I hope all our friends and family find themselves happy and healthy this year and know how much we appreciate all the love and support we receive in so many ways all year long. I love this special season that we get to reflect on the Savior and the many ways we are blessed. Thank you all for helping to make 2008 such a loving and fun-filled year for the Pidcocks. I am only excited to see what next year will bring and how I can try to translate this wonderful Christmas feeling into the new year. Maybe I can actually make and keep some meaningful new year's resolutions...
Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving festivities!

So we hosted the large family Thanksgiving at our house this year and it was FANTASTIC! Thanks to everyone for all the help and fun to make the first Thanksgiving in our home so great! I think the final count was 25 when we included kids and babies?? Anyway food and fam and fun! Glad we have that unfinished basement so we could at least all sit down for the dinner!

In the spirit of the Griswald family vacation Mark wanted to have a grand premier on Thanksgiving night of our Christmas lights. So, we made everyone stand out in the cold doing the drumroll... AND as in the movie the lights did not totally cooperate... the rain earlier that morning attacked some of the lights and extension cords so we only got to see a partial show.

The whole display is working now if anyone wants to come back???

Baby bump

Yes it is there- I would say I don't know why it is already so large, but when you eat as often as I have been there really is no other explanation...
